This year the show will feature Alex Mazo and Edyta Sliwinska, two of the most famous dancers from “Dancing With The Stars”. They will do an exhibition dance as well as serve with Brian Tracey, Master of Ceremonies (past KING 5 TV Evening Magazine; Ride-The-Ducks-Of-Seattle) as Judges for the Christmas Spectacular Dance Competition. In the tradition similar to that of“Dancing With The Stars”, the dance competition will be Webcast and Text Voted. The dance competition will be hosted by Chris Clay, a New York Broadway performer (42nd Street), who also has been the director of this portion of the show.The talented cast of regulars to help celebrate the 10th Anniversary will include Dehner Franks, who has created 34 songs and 4 CD albums for the show over the years. He will be joined by outstanding performers from New York, Boston, and Los Angeles as well as unique performers from the Seattle area as well. The Everett Chorale directed by Lee Mathews and the IMAGINE! Children’s Museum North Pole Singers and the Snohomish County Children’s Choirs directed by Shelley Logan will be part of the show as well. All will perform favorite songs taken from the show over the last decade.The Christmas Spectacular presents not only music of the holiday season but a salute to our men and women in uniform both locally and over seas.
Futhermore, the show celebrates community heroes during the holiday season. Community heroes like the late Mike Jordan, a graduate of Everett High School and much celebrated local dance teacher healthcare heroes Ines Nava, Rod Oskouian M.D. and the staff of Providence Everett Medical Center. The show was initially created in the aftermath of 9-11 by Sanford Wright Jr M.D. then President of the Everett Performing Arts Inc., to help support the Volunteers of America Food Bank. Dr. Wright’s father served on the board of directors for the Volunteers of America for 30 years and worked closely with Gil Saparto, CEO of the organization during that period. Because a primary purpose of the show s to support the VOA food bank, the ticket price has been kept low ($15/person) so that people will each donate 5 canned food items/person at the door of the theater.This year the show has been moved from the Historic Everett Theater to the Everett Civic Auditorium, which has a larger stage better suited to a dance competition. The doors open at 5pm with a 6pm curtain.
